Survival Can’t Remain Tied to Labour

We need to establish a clear human Baseline for everyone.

The Problem: The Old Deal is Broken

For centuries, the deal was: work, and you live. We are now in the process of engineering labor out of the system. Productivity is at an all-time high, yet we are forced to compete for survival against the very AI built to liberate us. When right to labor dissolves, the entire social contract dissolves.

The Solution: A New Social Contract

Project Baseline demands a floor of baseline values below which no human member of our society can fall:

Calories & Water
Guaranteed nutritional floors.

Shelter
Dignified, private, and thermally stable space.

Healthcare
24/7 diagnostic access and care.

Connectivity
Broadband internet access as a human right.

Mobility
Reliable access to essential transportation.

Project Baseline does not prescribe how these conditions must be secured. They may be provided through markets, services, direct transfers, or mechanisms not yet designed. But we must secure them for ourselves and our children.

While Project Baseline doesn’t prescribe exact calorie counts or shelter square footage, many studies (including the WHO, UN, National Academy of Sciences, NASA, The Sphere Association) already exist which propose baseline levels for human flourishing. These are good starting points. It’s time to draw the line below which no person can fall.

Why Now?

We are at the dawn of the AI age, where AI and automation are on a course to exceed human GDP. We are seeing excess value creation everywhere AI is applied. That excess value is generated from the tools that were trained on the data that all of us made, and it’s time that all of us share in that value rather just the few who own the servers.

We can afford to secure the survival of our own species. But more importantly we cannot afford not to.
